Baking cakes at home can be rewarding, if the recipe does turn out right. Are you struggling trying to prepare some delicious cakes at home? Well, after having practiced a number of times, I can safely reveal these recipes for those on a mission to bake the perfect cake. Generally, these mixes can belong to any reputed brand. It makes the whole task of baking a tad easier for newbies like me.
Honey Bun
Ingredients
For the Batter
- Eggs, 4
- Sour Cream, 1 cup
- Vegetable Oil Spray
- Vegetable Oil, ¾ cup
- Plain Yellow Cake Mix, 1 package
For the Filling
- Honey, ⅓ cup
- Cinnamon, 1 tbsp.
- Light Brown Sugar, ⅓ cup
- Pecans, ½ cup (finely chopped)
For the Sugar Glaze
- Milk, ⅓ cup
- Confectioner’s Sugar, 2 cups
- Pure Vanilla Extract, 1 tsp.
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350º F, but make sure that you place a rack in the center. Use a light coating of vegetable oil in a pan and keep it aside. Take a large bowl and place the oil, cake mix, sour cream, and eggs in it. Blend all these ingredients on a low speed with an electric mixer. Then, increase the speed to a medium setting ensuring that the ingredients blend well. Once the batter becomes thick, pour it into the pan prepared before. Smooth the batter properly with the help of a rubber spatula.
Now, add all the filling ingredients and put honey on top of the batter. You can even sprinkle some pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon if required. Blend these ingredients slightly. Place this pan in the oven. Bake till it turns a shade of golden brown for a total of 40 minutes. Once done, remove from pan and allow it to cool on the rack. It’s time to prepare the glaze. Place the sugar, vanilla, and milk in a small mixing bowl. Blend these ingredients well and pour it over the hot cake. Allow it to spread evenly. Let it cool down completely. Once it cools, cut and serve.
Chocolate
Ingredients
- Vegetable Oil, 1 cup
- Sour Cream, 1 cup
- Eggs, 4
- Warm Water, ½ cup
- Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips, 2 cups
- Cake Mix, 18¼ oz.
- Instant Chocolate Pudding Mix, 5¾ oz.
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 350° F. Take a large bowl and add the pudding mix, beaten eggs, oil, and water into this. Add the chocolate chips to it. Now, pour this batter into a greased pan. Bake it for 50 minutes. To check, you can insert a toothpick or knife and see if it comes out clean. Let the cake cool down in the pan. Sprinkle with some powdered sugar over the top if required.
