Classic Dragon Roll Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 1 Cucumber
- 1 Avocado
- 50 gm Tobiko (flying fish roe)
- 50 gm BBQ-ed eel (sushi grade)
- 10 medium size shrimp (sushi grade)
- ½ cup Tempura
- 2-3 nori sheets
Process
Cut the tails of 9 shrimp and set aside (store one uncut for later use). Take a bowl add tempura with a little water, mix until a thick mixture is formed. Dip the shrimp in this mixture one by one and deep-fry them for 30 seconds, until they golden-brownish from outside, set aside. Slice cucumber into thin long sticks also peel the avocado in thin layers. Now spread the sushi rice on the nori sheet, flip it over a mat.
Place the cucumber and some avocado slices on the rice, followed by tempura shrimp, place the eel slices on the top. Roll it in inside-out style. Place the remaining avocado layers on the top of the roll and then tighten the roll with the help of a bamboo mat. Spread Tobiko on the entire roll and cut it into a shape of the dragon. Place the stored shrimp at the end of the roll, it will resemble the dragon’s tail. You can add carrot sticks to show dragon’s antennas! Serve immediately with teriyaki and soy sauce.
Red Dragon Roll Recipe
Ingredients
- 3 cups sushi rice
- 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
- 6 sheets nori
- ½ small cucumber
- 1 small avocado
- 6 oz sashimi-grade tuna
- ¼ cup fried onions
- ¼ cup Tobiko
- 1 tbsp Sriracha sauce
Process
Slice tuna into 1 cm square sticks, also cut avocado into half. Scoop out the avocado pulp with a large spoon and slice into thin sticks. Cut the cucumber into thin slices. Now roll the sushi in inside-out style, place tuna, avocado, and cumber on it. Add a little Sriracha sauce on top and sprinkle Tobiko, fried onions and sesame seeds in the end. Serve immediately.
