Making custard with milk is a very simple procedure. With a few variations, you can prepare delicious and easy recipes.

Custard is a very popular dessert all over the world. This typical dessert is made from milk, vanilla, sugar, and egg. Sometimes, additional ingredients like cornstarch or gelatin are also added. This is a versatile recipe that can be either baked or frozen. It is used to prepare many desserts like fruit custards, frozen custard, custard fillings, etc. Here are few easy recipes for preparing this delicious dessert.

Frozen Custard Recipe

  • Salt, ⅛ tsp.
  • Eggs, 4
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk, 14 oz.
  • Vanilla Extract, 2 tbsp.
  • Cornstarch, ⅓ cup
  • Milk, 4 cups
  • Sugar, 1¼ cups

First, pour water in a large bowl and add ice cubes to it. Now, take a large saucepan and heat the milk to 175° F and then add salt, sugar, and cornstarch to it. Stir the mixture until the salt gets dissolved completely. Break the eggs in another bowl and then add a small amount of milk mixture to the eggs. Whisk the mixture and transfer it to the saucepan. Constantly stir the mixture and cook it over low heat, until it reaches 160° F. Then remove the mixture from heat and place the saucepan quickly in ice water. Stir the mixture for 2 minutes and then add condensed milk and vanilla. Then, press the waxed paper on the surface of the custard and refrigerate the mixture for several hours. Vanilla custard has a smoother texture than ice cream.

Egg Custard Recipe

  • Milk, 4 cups
  • Vanilla, 1 tbsp.
  • Sugar, 1 cup
  • Nutmeg Powder
  • Eggs, 8
  • Salt, ½ tsp.

This is a simple baked recipe with eggs. Preheat the oven at 375° F. Take a large bowl and break the eggs into it. Use an electric mixer and beat the eggs properly. Then, add salt, sugar, and vanilla to it. Continue beating the mixture and slowly add milk to it. Take the molding dishes and pour the egg mixture into them. Sprinkle nutmeg powder over each dish. Place these dishes in the oven and check the color after 50 minutes. If the color is brown, your dessert is ready, if not, bake them for 10 more minutes.

Fruit Custard Recipe

  • Milk, 34 oz.
  • Bananas, 2
  • Custard Powder, 0.22 lb.
  • Cherries, ½ cup
  • Sugar, 0.45 lb.
  • Apple, 1
  • Sponge Cake, 4 pieces
  • Strawberries, 1 cup
  • Seedless Grapes, 1 cup
  • Small Pineapple, 1

Cut the apples, banana, and pineapple into small cubes. Then, take a large mixing bowl and add all the fruits to it. Cut the sponge cake in small slices and add it to the fruit mixture. Take another vessel and add milk and sugar to it. Stir this mixture properly and bring to boil. In a small bowl, add custard powder and some water to dilute the mixture. Add this diluted mixture to the boiling milk and keep stirring until it becomes thick. Let it cool for some time, after it attains the desired thickness. Add it to the fruit mixture and refrigerate it for at least 4 hours.

Custard Filling Recipe

  • Lemon Juice, ⅓ cup
  • Egg Yolks, 2
  • Cornstarch, ¼ cup
  • White Sugar, ½ cup
  • Salt, ¼ tsp.
  • Water, ¾ cup
  • Butter, 2 tbsp.

To prepare this dish, take a large saucepan and combine cornstarch, salt, and sugar. In another bowl, beat the egg yolks and water. Put this mixture in the saucepan and stir it constantly over heat. Once the mixture attains a thick texture, remove it from heat, add lemon juice and butter to it. Cover the mixture with a plastic wrap until it cools completely. Use this filling for cakes and bread.

Preparing these desserts is quite easy, and does not consume a lot of time or resources. You can serve them with whipped cream and assorted fruit syrups.
