Isn’t it nice to cozy up in the warm, slightly sweet embrace of a good cocktail? Just let its sweet and gentle kiss take over till you’re knocked off your senses? If yes, then this drink is definitely not for you. Its unforgivingly strong taste will definitely take some getting used to, even for the hardcore drinkers.
Fernet Branca is a member of the Italian amaro-bitter liqueurs. It is usually served as a digestif, especially after a really heavy meal. It is said to have the power to counter the overindulgence at the dinner (you know what we mean!). Although the first encounter with this drink can be jarring, you will be tempted again and again.
It is an aromatic spirit with a strong bitter taste laced with some really pungent flavors (not for the fainthearted). It is a grape-based distilled spirit with a clear, light brown appearance. Its aromatic quality come from herbs like myrrh, rhubarb, chamomile, aloe, menthol, eucalyptus and saffron (speak of overindulgence!). It contains forty five percent alcohol (yikes!) and is usually served with coffee or espresso. Sometimes, it is mixed with cola or soda; however, some aficionados of this drink like to have it on its own.
Fernet Branca Cocktail Drink Recipes
Fernet Branca is usually paired with other alcohols that have strong taste themselves. Apparently, that’s only way how other ingredients can manage to shine through this drink. If such strong taste is not for you, you can balance it out with something sweet. Certain fresh hits of lime and lemony flavor as well as the pungent hit of ginger are oh-so-damn-good with this drink!
