Liquor Vs. Liqueur
Although both sound the same, the former refers to any distilled alcoholic beverages like vodka, gin, tequila, etc. Liqueur, on the other hand, refers to liquor with added sugar, flavor, and seasoning. Therefore, peach schnapps falls under the latter.
Schnapps is a strong alcoholic drink that is mostly added to cocktails for better consistency and color. It’s mostly made of rectified grain spirit, and further flavored with fruit. Schnapps also contains certain proportion of sugar and glycerin that gives it a smooth, syrup-like consistency.
Alcohol content in any schnapps can range from 15 to 50 percent. Also, it is officially classified as liquor due to its fruit base and added sweetener (sugar). If you prefer to have a peach schnapps, you could look for it in one of these popular brands: Archers, Arrow, DeKuyper, Jubilee, Jacquin’s, or Dr. Mcgillicuddy’s.
If you already have a bottle of your favorite peach schnapps, use it to make any of the cocktails given below.
