The name 'Hamburger' comes from the place Hamburg in Germany, since the Germans often name their local traditional snacks after their place of origin. Although the name suggests the presence of ham, hamburgers can be made using grilled patties of different types of ground meat like beef, chicken, pork, or turkey. For the vegetarians, there is always the option of a vegetarian-burger that is devoid of meat.
Spicy Jalapeño Hamburger
The Ingredients
  • 1 pound, lean ground beef
  • 4 jalapeño peppers (seeded; minced)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 3 tablespoons, tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon, cilantro
  • 4 tablespoons, cajun seasoning
  • Sliced bun
  • Cheese slices
  • Lettuce
Mix the beef, jalapeños, garlic, tomato paste, and cilantro in a bowl. Use the mixture to make six patties. The patties should not be too thin or too thick. Once you have made the patties, sprinkle them with Cajun seasoning according to your taste. Grill the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side. Once the patty is ready, layer the buns with some mustard/ketchup. Place the patty on the bun, and top it with a cheese slice. Now, add some fresh lettuce and place the top portion of the sliced bun above it.
Tangy Chicken Hamburger

  • Sprinkle of freshly ground pepper
  • Lettuce
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 cups, breadcrumbs
  • 1 whisked egg

Mix the ground chicken, the onion, chilly, and the red peppers. Once you have mixed the ingredients thoroughly, make six round and flat patties. Sprinkle fresh ground pepper on the patties and roll the patties in breadcrumbs before you grill them. Cook for 4-5 minutes on both sides on low heat. Once grilled, place the patty on the sliced bun and squeeze some fresh lemon juice on it. Place some fresh green lettuce leaves and the other bun slice on top.
