Nearly, all of us begin our day with a cup of hot beverage, either tea or coffee. As the concern for the effects of caffeine addiction is on the rise, most people prefer to have tea rather than coffee. And as per global estimation, tea is the second most common beverage, the first being water. Some researches have indicated the positive effects of tea on the health. This again adds to the popularity of tea amongst health-conscious people in developed countries.

Made from milk, sugar, tea leaves, and water, a lot of people are interested in knowing about milk tea nutrition facts. Some are of the opinion that adding milk to black tea reduces its health benefits, while others claim that milk tea has the same therapeutic effect as black tea. Though the debate concerning the effects of milk on black tea still continues, it is certain that having milk tea yields beneficial polyphenols. Bubble Milk Tea

Ingredients

  • Brewed tea (preferably black tea), ¾ cup
  • Milk, ½ cup
  • Ice cubes, ½ cup
  • Tapioca pearls, ¼ cup
  • Sugar syrup, 2 tablespoons

  1. To make the sugar syrup, combine 1 part each of granulated sugar and dark brown sugar with 2 parts of water.
  2. Place this over medium heat and stir till the sugar dissolves in water.
  3. Simmer for a few minutes and keep it aside for cooling down.
  4. Now, let’s get on to making the tapioca pearls. For this, boil 3 cups of cold water in a saucepan.
  5. Add half of the tapioca pearls, cover with a lid, and simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. Allow the tapioca to sit in the cooking water for another 30 minutes and then strain.
  7. Next, drizzle ¼ cup of sugar syrup over the tapioca.
  8. Once you are done with the above preparations, you can easily make the bubble milk tea.
  9. Add all the bubble milk tea ingredients (brewed tea, milk, sugar syrup, and ice cubes) except tapioca pearls in a cocktail shaker or electric blender.
  10. Blend the mixture until you get a frothy concoction. Place the tapioca pearls at the base of a tall serving glass.
  11. Pour the tea concoction into the glass. Decorate with fruit slices and serve immediately.

Sweet Milk Tea

Ingredients

  • Milk, 4 cups
  • Black tea leaves, 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar, 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon
  • Water (optional)

  1. In case you are concerned about the calories in milk, you can take 3 cups of milk and 1 cup of water for this recipe.
  2. Pour the milk (or milk and water solution) in a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium low and add the black tea leaves.
  4. Cover with a lid and allow the tea leaves to steep for 4 – 5 minutes.
  5. Strain the milk tea in serving mugs. Add sugar according to your taste, stir, and serve hot.

Chinese Milk Tea

Ingredients

  • Water, 2 cups
  • Black tea leaves, 1 tablespoon
  • Cold sweetened condensed milk
  • Sugar or honey (optional)

Directions

  1. Pour the water in a saucepan and place it over a medium-high heat.
  2. As it starts boiling, add the tea leaves in a silk bag and dip it in the water.
  3. Reduce the heat and continue to boil for 25 minutes. For a strong taste, you can boil it for a longer period.
  4. Pour the hot tea in porcelain cups. Stir in the cold condensed milk and sugar as per your taste.
  5. Your Chinese milk tea with condensed milk is ready to be served.

As far as milk tea calories are concerned, one small cup serving of regularly made milk tea provides around 60 calories.
