Enlighten Yourself on How to Broil a Steak in an Electric Oven

☛ Broiling is considered to be the best way to cook a steak, because it retains the original tenderness of the meat and makes it crispy on the outside.

☛ Now, before we get into the details of broiling, you need to understand how to choose a perfect steak to make a fantastic dish. You can easily find steaks at a grocery store or butcher’s shop nearby.

☛ Once you get there, look for well-marbled steaks that have a healthy bright red color. As you must be aware that there are different types of steaks available and each type employs a different method of preparation.

☛ For perfect broiling, select steak types having medium thickness, which means that you need to avoid picking too thick or too thin varieties.

☛ Lastly, ensure to marinade the steak and place it in the refrigerator in order to avoid getting afflicted with foodborne illnesses.

Before learning how to cook steaks in an electric oven, you need to be aware of the various types of steaks. A few have been enlisted below:

Chuck steak (chuck pot roast, shoulder top blade, shoulder pot roast, shoulder steak, shoulder center, shoulder petite tender, and boneless short ribs)
Brisket and shank steak (shank cross cut and brisket flat cut)
Round steak (top round, bottom round, eye round roast, eye round steak, round tip roast, round tip steak, sirloin tip center roast, sirloin tip center, and sirloin tip side steak)
Rib steak (rib roast, rib steak, rib eye roast, rib eye steak, and back ribs)
Plate and flank steak (skirt steak and flank steak)
Loin steak (porterhouse steak, T-bone, top loin steak, tenderloin roast, and tenderloin steak)
Sirloin steak (tri-tip roast, tri-tip steak, and top sirloin steak)

Broiling a Steak in an Electric Oven

For excellent broiling, the steak that you choose should be at least 1 inch thick. Given below are the directions for broiling it in an electric oven. By following these instructions, you will get medium well-cooked steaks having a delectable pink center and brown crust.

Ingredients

  • Garlic bud (minced): 1
  • Steak
  • Olive oil
  • Coarsely ground black pepper
  • Marinade (optional)
  • Salt
  • Oven mitts
  • Paper towels
  • Well-seasoned cast iron skillet
  • A large spatula

Procedure

  1. Firstly, put the steak in the desired steak marinade, and then, place the bowl in a refrigerator for about 3 to 4 hours.
  2. Then, take the bowl out from the fridge, and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 to 40 minutes.
  3. Then, rub the steak with pepper and garlic. If you do not prefer marinating, then drizzle some olive oil on the steak, and then sprinkle some salt and pepper on it followed by rubbing the minced garlic on it.
  4. Now, place the oven rack in the highest position, which is approximately 4 to 6 inches away from direct heat.
  5. Now, place the skillet on the oven rack and set the oven on broil at a temperature of 160ºF.
  6. Remove the heated skillet using oven mitts, and place the steak in it with the help of a spatula.
  7. Then, cook the steak for about 5 minutes in order to have a medium-well broiled steak.
  8. Remove the pan and turn the sides of the steak, and cook it again for 5 minutes.
  9. Check if the steak is broiled or not by making a small cut in the middle. Once thoroughly broiled, let it rest at room temperature for about 5 minutes before serving it.

How to Broil a Rib Eye Steak in an Electric Oven

Ingredients

  • Rib eye steak
  • Olive oil
  • Coarsely ground black pepper
  • Marinade (optional)
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt
  • Rosemary
  • Thyme
  • Aluminum foil
  • Oven mitts
  • Broiler pan

Procedure

  1. First of all, mix all the herbs, garlic powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Then, coat all the sides of the ribeye steak with olive oil, and rub the herb mixture on it.
  3. Then, cover the broiler pan with aluminum foil and preheat it for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Next, place the steak on the preheated broiler pan and put the pan inside, at the highest position, the electric oven.
  5. Broil the steak at 160ºF for about 5 minutes (for medium-well), 150ºF for about 3 minutes (for medium), and 130ºF 1 minute (for rare) broiled steak.
  6. Remember to turn the side of the steak, and cook both the sides for equal duration.
