Eating salads on a regular basis is good for health. Almost every parent goes through this stage with their kids when the greens are left untouched. Salads are a good way to make your family (and yourself) enjoy eating greens and avail its benefits. No salad is complete without the dressing. So here are some recipes on dressings.

Sweet and Sour Dressing

  • 5 cups fresh spinach
  • 1 can bean sprouts
  • 1 red onion, julienned
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ½ brown sugar
  • ½ cup cider vinegar

  • 5 cups iceberg lettuce
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 shallot, julienned
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tsp red wine vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
To prepare the dressing, melt the butter in a skillet, add shallots, and cook till butter turns golden brown. Remove from the stove, stir in honey, vinegar, salt, and pepper to it. Pour the warm honey-butter dressing over the iceberg lettuce, spinach, chickpeas, and onion mix. That's all there is to it.

Add avocado slices on top and just before serving the salad pour in the soy sauce, sugar, salt, pepper, and vinegar mix. Make sure the sugar is properly dissolved. Toss the salad gently to coat the spinach leaves.
