What we now call skinny pancakes have been around for long, but have been known as Crêpes. The word Crêpes is French in origin, and is derived from the Latin word Crispa, which stands for curled. They actually originated in the Brittany province of France. They are widely eaten all over France, and are often considered as the national dish of France. They are very thin pancakes, which are made using wheat flour. Traditionally, Crêpes are served with cider in the Brittany province. However, they may also be served with a wide variety of fillings as well. We will see the trick to make thin pancakes, and also a skinny pancake recipe.
Tricks to Make Skinny Pancakes
Although they are easy to make, most people find it difficult to make skinny pancakes. This is due to the fact that they are not able to make thin pancakes, which actually is the main characteristics of Crêpes. The first important trick is to heat the frying pan, before the batter is poured onto the frying pan. The next trick is to make a thin liquid batter. Grease the hot frying pan with butter and pour the thin batter onto the pan.
Now either using a thin pan or plate, spread the batter evenly on the pan, or tilt the pan and spread the batter. When the pancakes are almost done, you will see that they will release from the sides, and you can either fill in the fillings or spread the toppings of your choice on the pancakes, and serve hot.
