Ravioli Sauce Recipes

From pizzas to tiramisu and pasta, there are very few Italian foods that have not become popular in the arena of world cuisine. One of the most famous dishes from Italy which has made a mark all over the world is ravioli. Now with ravioli being easily available in packaged form, all you need to do is prepare the sauce in order to relish this dish in the comforts of your home.

Sauce for Lobster Ravioli
In order to make the sauce for this delicious lobster ravioli, the ingredients that you will need are listed below. Depending on the quantity of sauce and ravioli that you need to make you can increase or decrease the quantity of the ingredients.

Ingredients
  • Lobster ravioli, 2 packets
  • Mascarpone cheese, 2 cups
  • Butter, 8 tablespoons
  • Parmesan cheese, 1 cup
  • Nutmeg, freshly grated, ½ teaspoon
  • Salt, as per taste
  • Pepper, white, as per taste
  • Cream, as per requirement
Method

Check the packet of ravioli for instructions on how to cook it and while it is cooking you can prepare the sauce. Take a sauce pan and place it on low flame. Now take the butter and melt it. Add the mascarpone cheese to the butter and allow it to melt and then add nutmeg to this mixture of mascarpone and butter. Next add the Parmesan cheese to this mixture, stir it so that it combines well with the mascarpone cheese mixture and take the sauce pan off the flame. Depending on how you like the consistency of the sauce to be, add cream to the sauce. Add salt and pepper according to taste and pour the sauce over the cooked lobster ravioli.

Basil Tomato Cream Sauce
Most ravioli dishes in Italian cuisine use a cream sauce with a tomato base to it. This sauce with basil added to it gives a slight twist to a traditional recipe.

Ingredients
  • Tomatoes, large, 3
  • Onion, small, chopped, 1
  • Garlic cloves, minced, 3
  • Butter, 2 tablespoons
  • Parmesan cheese, 4 tablespoons
  • Basil flakes, 2 teaspoons
  • Oregano, ½ teaspoon
  • Whipping cream, ¼ cup
  • Salt, as per taste
  • Pepper, as per taste
Method

Blanch the tomatoes until they become tender. At the same time put the chopped onion into a saucepan that has oil in it and saute it till it looks pinkish in color. Now add the garlic to it and continue to saute for another minute or so. Take the mixture off the flame and then blend the tomatoes, onions and garlic together to form a paste. Now take a nonstick pan and add some butter to it. Pour the blend of tomato, onion and garlic into the pan and let it boil. Next add basil and oregano to the sauce and salt and pepper as per taste. Allow it to simmer for a while. While this is going on, beat the whipping cream and cheese in a bowl to form a mixture. On a low flame, add this cream mixture to the boiling sauce. Cook the ravioli, pour the sauce over it, and serve.

Sage and White Wine Sauce
There are many easy ideas that you can use to prepare a delicious sauce for your meal. One such sauce can be made using sage and white wine.

Ingredients
  • Butter, 1½ tablespoons
  • Pecans, chopped, ¼ cup
  • Shallots, chopped finely, ⅓ cup
  • Sage, chopped, 1½ tablespoons
  • White wine, ¾ cup
  • Whipping cream, ⅔ cup
Method

Take the butter and melt it in a saucepan. Now add the chopped pecans to it and stir the mixture for about three minutes. Remove the pecans from the pan and transfer them to a small bowl. Add shallots to the saucepan you had the pecans in and add sage to it as well. If you do not have fresh sage, you can substitute the same with dried sage. Now saute the sage and the shallots till you get nice fragrance from the mix. This should take you about thirty seconds or so and not more than that. Add the cream and the white wine and allow the sauce to boil till it gets reduced to fill about ¾ of a cup. Pour this over the ravioli and sprinkle the pecans on top. This is a slight twist on a traditional Italian recipe that will go down well with people who enjoy different variations in their food.
