Mulled cider is a beverage made by heating apple cider along with various spices, and sometimes sugar, too. Mulled spices give this drink its unique taste, which include nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, and cloves. Some people also use pre-made pumpkin pie spice. Mulled Cider with Alcohol
  • 4 cups apple cider
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ⅔ cup honey
  • ½ cup brandy
  • 1 orange
  • 6 to 8 whole cloves
Pour the apple cider in a nonstick saucepan and place it on the stove on low heat. Meanwhile, grate the orange skin and then pound the zest a little with a pestle, to help it release some of its aromatic oil. Add this to the warm cider. Gradually put all the remaining ingredients in the saucepan, and continue to heat the mixture on a low flame. However, make sure to stir the contents, occasionally. When the mixture comes to a boil, transfer it to drinking mugs and serve hot.
Mulled Cider in Microwave
  • 4 cups apple cider
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon whole allspice
  • 1½ cups cranberry juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • ½ teaspoon whole cloves
Pour the apple cider and cranberry juice in a microwave-safe casserole dish and add the whole allspice, cinnamon, water, and cloves, to it. Cover the dish and place it in the microwave. Heat the mixture for 5 to 8 minutes on a high temperature. Strain the drink, pour it into drinking mugs, and serve hot.
