Bacon is prepared from preserved pork and can be cooked by different methods like boiling, frying, grilling, and smoking. But microwaving bacon is by far the easiest way; it brings out its unique smoky, salty flavor.
Microwaving Bacon
If you want to leave out the fat, place the bacon strips in a bowl so that the grease gets collected in it.
  1. On a microwavable plate, place paper towels, and arrange bacon strips so that they are not overlapping each other. The paper towels will absorb the excess fat.
  2. Cover the strips with another paper towel to reduce the splattering of grease in the microwave.
  3. Set the microwave on high for about five minutes.
  4. Turn the bacon over after three minutes to ensure that it is cooked evenly on all sides.
  5. After everything is cooked, remove the plate from the microwave and transfer the strips to a new plate with fresh paper towels. Let the bacon cool for about ten minutes before serving.
Crispy Bacon
Crispy, crunchy bacon sure is a delight. For this, cook the bacon in the method given above and then allow the strips to cook in the microwave for two more minutes. Transfer the bacon strips onto some paper towels to soak up excess fat and then serve.
Bacon Broccoli Quiche
  • 5 slices bacon
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese (grated)
  • ½ teaspoon lemon pepper
  • 1 cup cream
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 eggs
  • Salt to taste
Microwave the bacon slices for about 2 minutes at a high setting. In a medium-sized bowl, beat the eggs, cheese, and cream. Add the broccoli, garlic powder, lemon pepper, and salt, and stir well. Crumble the bacon and mix half of it into the egg mixture. Transfer this mixture into a pie plate and microwave at medium for six minutes. Stir this mixture and continue to cook in the microwave on high for about 10 minutes until the eggs set. Garnish with the remaining bacon and sliced tomatoes before serving.
Bacon Cheddar Potatoes

  • 2 large baking potatoes
  • 1 small tomato (diced)
  • 2 medium spring onions (minced)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • ½ cup cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground pepper
  • Salt to taste
Microwave the potatoes for about 15 minutes. Mash them with butter, pepper, and salt. Transfer the mashed potatoes to a baking dish, add the bacon, onions, and tomatoes, and spread the cheese on top. Cook this in the microwave for about 10 minutes until the cheese melts.
Bacon and Cheese Cornmeal
  • 5 slices bacon (cooked and crumbled)
  • ½ cup yellow cornmeal
  • 2 eggs (beaten)
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1½ cup milk
  • ¼ cup butter (melted)
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (crushed)
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)

In a microwavable dish, add the milk and cornmeal and microwave on high for about 3 minutes. Remove the dish from the microwave and stir in the eggs, baking powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and butter. Add the crumbled bacon and cheese, and microwave on a medium setting for about 5 minutes until the cheese melts. Stir this mixture after 3 minutes and microwave on high again until the top develops a crusty layer. Garnish with chopped spring onions and some extra bacon.
