It was that legendary Saturday night that everything turned wayside up and upside down. The usually quiet Saturday, with the men over on one side drinking their way steadily through scotch and malt and the women daintily holding on to their pink drinks, was shattered for a good way, of course. My cousin from college was visiting and that's how it came to be that when he saw the rather dull (I concede and admit) display of the eve with sober drinking ensuing, he had had enough. He pulled me aside and said he could turn the eve into something far more thrilling and exciting. How? My eyebrows shot up. Get the ladies to my side and the men will follow. He had a plan, and what a plan it was.

All very simple, really. All he would do was convert the same old-same old margarita into jello shots and tada! Job done. But how does one go about making these shots was my question. He knew that one like rote. Even better than his texts, apparently. So yeah. We set about making the eve completely awesome. We got the ladies over to our side and when the men saw them get all giggly and uninhibited through the eve, they joined in as well.

So huh. You want to know how to make margarita jello shots and hold the promise of a fun eve, some time in the near future for yourself? Let's make it happen for you. Let's show you the way. In the following sections are the recipes for this awesomeness that will follow. Ready?

Making Margarita Shots

You've seen a margarita drink, correct? You're most likely to recognize it because of that patent glass and the salt covering the rim. The drink has quite the potential as well, you know? While it is usually made with tequila, lemon and orange liqueur, there are several other flavors that are readily used as well to give it that twist. And when you make it into jello shots? More fun. Jello shots on their own hold a potential of being all about the fun. That you cannot be all prim and proper while downing shots is also a given. So, when you combine the two? Lethal combination. More relating, less talking. Recipes? Coming right up.

Margarita Jello Shots (With Strawberry)Things You'll Need
  • Cold water (1/4 cup)
  • Lime Juice (Freshly squeezed, 1/8 cup)
  • Tequila (4 ounces)
  • Jello gelatin (Strawberry flavor, 6 ounce)
  • Cointreau (2 ounces)

  1. Mix boiling water and the strawberry jello and stir till it dissolves.

  4. Add this to the cold water and stir. Then mix with the hot water and strawberry jello combination.
  5. Use fresh strawberries of the biggest size so you can double these up as cups.
  6. Cut the base of the strawberries so that they are able to stand by themselves.

  8. Clean these well and then pour the mixture into these and place in the freezer section and freeze for 5 hours and more.
  9. When the jellos are ready, moisten the rim of the strawberries. Then wet your finger, run it over salt and cover the rim of the strawberries.
  10. You could add small lime wedges to this strawberry cup as a final garnish and serve the strawberry margarita jello.
And there you go. All you do now, all you do is arrange these margarita jello shots in a way that no one can resist them. I'm thinking multi-colored lights and a whole lot of color and ice. What a party that will be!
