Italian Ice!! Yummy! You know what it is? It is a dessert that comes straight from the land of Italy. In Italian it is called 'Gelato Di Limone'. Summers are close, so, treating yourself with some Italian ice can be the coolest way to cool you down in the hot sun. In this article, I am going to give you a very easy way of making Italian ice at home. You may also call it a recipe. It is absolutely easy to make.
An Easy Way of Making Italian Ice
  • Water
  • Sugar
  • Ice
  • Lemon Juice
  • Berries
  • White Wine (if you please!)

Step 1: Mix 2 cups of water and one cup of sugar and stir it till all the sugar melts. After this, boil the mixture in a boiling vessel.

Step 2: Let the mixture cool down and put it into the freezer (for an hour approximately).

Step 3: Meanwhile, extract fresh lemon juice from 3 lemons and keep it ready.

Step 4: Remove the semi-frozen mixture from the deep fridge and mix the lemon juice in it. This should be done in a way that the ice transforms into crystals. 

Step 5: Again place the contents in the freezer.
Step 6: Take a glass bowl and add the frozen contents in it and stir it again, maintaining the crystallized effect.

Step 7: Now, after stirring again, put the content in the freezer and let it freeze for about half an hour.

Step 8: Remove the bowl and stir the content again. 

Step 9: And now for the last time, again put the mixed content in the freezer for about 3 hours.

Step 10: Remove the mixture from the fridge and sort of mash them.

Your Italian ice is ready!
Serving the Italian Ice
Wasn't making the Italian ice very easy and convenient? But the beauty of the dessert lies in how you present it. There are two ways in which you can serve it.
In a Glass
Once the crystallized frozen content is ready, you can opt to pour it in a glass and add small pieces of fruits, like berries, orange, pineapple, etc., in it. It looks very appealing and gives a great flavor. It will look, feel and taste like a slush. Try keeping the ice crystals large though! You can also add some white wine (two tablespoons or as much as you like) from the top as an add on!
In a Bowl
This is the typical way in which the Italian ice is supposed to be served. Pour or scoop out the churned crystallized mixture in a bowl and add some slices of fruits in it and serve it cold. You can pour some white wine as a topping on the dessert.
Note: Pre-cool the bowls and the glasses in a fridge before serving them, it keeps the dessert cool for a longer period. Keep some additional sugar syrup and some fruits along with the dessert, so that people can add toppings as per their taste.
This is super simple way of making the delicious and refreshing Italian ice.
