Cooking Beef Ribs in a Crock Pot
Ingredients Required
  • Beef ribs, 4 pounds
  • Large onion, chopped, 1
  • Garlic cloves, chopped, 6 to 8
  • Beef broth, 1½ cups
  • Butter, ½ cup
  • All-purpose flour, ½ cup
  • Red wine vinegar, ¾ cup
  • Ketchup, ¼ cup
  • Chili powder, 1½ teaspoons
  • Freshly ground black pepper, 2 teaspoons
  • Sweet chili sauce, ½ cup
  • Salt to taste
Instructions for Cooking
Take a large bowl and mix together the all-purpose flour, pepper and salt. Transfer the beef ribs to the bowl and coat them in the flour mixture evenly on all sides. Meanwhile melt butter in a frying pan and cook the ribs till they turn brown. Remove the cooked ribs and place them in a crock pot. Melt some more butter in the same frying pan and saute the onions and garlic till you get the aroma of garlic. Pour the beef broth and stir for a couple of minutes. Once it begins to boil, add the sweet chili sauce, ketchup and red wine vinegar. Reduce the heat and season the mixture with pepper, chili powder and salt. Stir to incorporate them properly. Pour this mixture into the crock pot and cook it on low heat for about 10 hours. This slow cooking method will enhance the flavor of the meat and other ingredients. Once the meat has cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and serve it with mashed taters.
Baking Beef Ribs in the Oven
Ingredients Required
  • Meaty beef ribs, 4 pounds
  • Green onions, finely chopped, 1 cup
  • Chives, chopped, ½ cup
  • Garlic cloves, minced, 8 to 10
  • Ketchup, 2 cups
  • Dijon mustard, 2 tablespoons
  • Allspice, ½ teaspoon
  • Honey or maple syrup, ½ cup
  • Cinnamon, ½ teaspoon
  • Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons
  • Hot pepper sauce, ½ tablespoon
  • Cayenne pepper, 1 tablespoon
  • Balsamic vinegar, 3 tablespoons
  • Freshly ground black pepper, 2 teaspoons
  • Salt to taste
Instructions for Cooking
Clean the beef ribs and discard all the unwanted fat from it. Leave the beef ribs in a plate. For preparing the marinade combine the sauces and seasonings in a medium-sized bowl. To the bowl add the chopped green onions, chives, garlic, Dijon mustard and blend them using a wooden spoon. Transfer the ribs to the bowl and coat them evenly on all sides. Allow the ribs to marinate in the mixture for about two to three hours. You can also place the bowl in the refrigerator overnight for a more delectable taste. Now for cooking beef ribs in the oven, drain the juices from the ribs and place them on a baking tray. Now cook the ribs in a preheated oven at 325 ºF for about half an hour. Remove the tray from the oven and baste the ribs with the sauce and turn them over. Cook it again for about 45 minutes till the meat is tender.

  • Soy sauce, ¼ cup
  • Thyme, ½ teaspoon
  • Dry red wine, ½ cup
  • Vegetable oil, 2 to 3 tablespoons
  • Freshly ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
