Ranch dressing is a popular salad dressing consumed in the United States. It's a dressing made with buttermilk, mayonnaise, onion, garlic, and herbs. Buttermilk forms an integral part of this dressing. Preparing this dressing is extremely, as it doesn't call for any time-consuming preparation process. Ranch dressing can be used as a dip for vegetable platters, or can even be used in tortillas, sandwiches, etc. Let's find out how this refreshing dip is prepared.
Basic Recipe
  • Buttermilk 1 cup
  • Mayonnaise ½ cup
  • Lemon juice 1 teaspoon
  • Paprika ⅛ teaspoon
  • Mustard powder ¼ teaspoon
  • Salt ½ teaspoon
  • Black pepper ⅛ teaspoon
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh chives (chopped) 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh dill weed (chopped) 1 teaspoon
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk buttermilk and mayonnaise until they combine well.
  • Then add the remaining ingredients and mix again.
  • Place this mixture into the refrigerator for half an hour before you serve it.
Ranch Dressing with Sour Cream
  • Mayonnaise 1 cup
  • Sour cream ½ cup
  • Dried chives ½ teaspoon
  • Parsley ½ teaspoon
  • Dried dill weed ½ teaspoon
  • Garlic powder ¼ teaspoon
  • Onion powder ¼ teaspoon
  • Salt ¼ teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper ⅛ teaspoon
  • Whisk mayonnaise, sour cream, parsley, dill weed, garlic powder, and onion powder in a mixing bowl.
  • Then, add the dried chives, salt, and ground black pepper to the mayonnaise mixture.
  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate the dressing for 30 to 40 minutes before you serve it.
Exquisite Ranch Dressing
  • Kosher salt ¼ teaspoon
  • Garlic clove (chopped) 1
  • Mayonnaise 1 cup
  • Sour cream ½ cup
  • Buttermilk ¼ to ½ cup (depending on the thickness of the dressing you desire)
  • Fresh parsley (chopped) ¼ cup
  • Fresh chives (chopped) 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh dill weed (chopped) 2 tablespoons
  • White vinegar ½ teaspoon
  • Worcestershire sauce ½ teaspoon
  • Cayenne pepper ⅛ teaspoon
  • Paprika ¼ teaspoon
  • Black pepper ½ teaspoon
  • Iceberg lettuce 2 heads
  • Dash of hot sauce
  • Put the garlic glove into a mortar and pestle, and sprinkle some Kosher salt over it. Mash the garlic to form a fine paste.
  • Then add all the other ingredients to the bowl, except the iceberg lettuce. Mix well.
  • Add the buttermilk gradually. Adding too much can cause the dressing to become runny.
  • Chill the dressing for 10 minutes. In the meanwhile, wash and dry the lettuce. Cut it into wedges and drizzle the dressing onto it.
If you are planning to prepare this dressing, but do not have fresh ingredients, you can use dry ingredients instead. Just divide the quantity of fresh ingredient by four and substitute.
