Recipe 1

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 cups Mexican cheese (shredded)
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 2 cups lettuce (shredded)
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil
  • ½ cup onion (finely chopped)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup water
  • 8 taco shells
Preheat oven to about 250 °F. Heat the oil in a thick skillet over medium flame. Sauté the onions for 2-3 minutes until they turn translucent. Add the ground beef and cook till the meat turns light brown. Stir in the garlic powder, cumin, chili powder, and salt.
Add the water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for another 10-12 minutes or till the gravy thickens. In a nonstick baking sheet, place the taco shells, and bake them for about 4-5 minutes till they are toasted lightly. Remove the toasted shells and keep aside.
While serving, put the lettuce and taco shells first on the serving plate and top with meat, salsa, and cheese. You can serve this ground beef taco with guacamole.

Heat a large, thick skillet over medium flame. Heat the oil, and sauté the onion till it turns golden brown. Add the ground beef and cook for about 5 minutes. You can drain the excess fat if you want. Then, stir in the ketchup, taco seasoning mix, and water.
