Fried rice is a common staple food item in most American-Chinese cuisines. It is also a popular component in other forms of Asian cuisine. The ingredients are varied and depend upon the kind of cuisine that is being prepared. This rice is generally prepared in a wok and is made from cold rice that has been pre-boiled. Let us take a look at some of the recipes enlisted below.
Basic Method
  • Peanut Oil, 2 tbsp.
  • Rindless Bacon Rashers, 0.35 lb. (cut cross-ways into long thin strips)
  • Green Prawns, 0.66 lb. (peeled, deveined, and chopped)
  • Red Capsicum, 1 (halved, deseeded, and finely chopped)
  • Frozen Peas, 2 cups
  • Eggs, 3 (lightly whisked)
  • White Rice, 4 cups (cooked, long-grains)
  • Bean Sprouts, 1 cup
  • Soy Sauce, 2 tbsp.
  • Green Shallots, 2 (trimmed diagonally and thinly sliced)
Take a large wok and heat some oil in it over high flames. Add the bacon and stir-fry this mixture for 2 minutes. Toss in the prawns, peas, capsicum, and stir-fry it for 1 minute. Now, reduce the heat to a medium-high and put eggs into the wok. You will have to use a wooden spoon to break up the eggs. Add cooked rice to the wok. Cook this for 2 minutes and toss it well. Wait till it gets cooked thoroughly. Once done, mix the bean sprouts and soy sauce in the wok. Set the heat on medium, keep tossing it for a minute, and combine the ingredients well. Serve the rice in bowls and sprinkle some green shallots over it. Serve immediately.
Japanese Fried Rice
  • Cooked Japanese Rice, 2 cups
  • Onion, ¼ cup (chopped)
  • Carrot, ¼ cup (chopped)
  • Green Pepper, ¼ cup (chopped)
  • Ham, ⅓ cup (diced)
  • Eggs, 2
  • Garlic Salt, ½ tsp.
  • Chicken Bouillon, 1 tsp.
  • Soy Sauce, 2 tbsp.
  • Vegetable Oil, 2 tsp.
Place a wok or a pan on high heat and add some oil in the pan. Whisk these eggs in a small bowl. Place these eggs in a heated pan. You will need to scramble them very quickly. Once done, place these into a separate dish. Now place the pan on a high heat and add some oil in it. Add the vegetables and ham to this and cook till it turns soft. Add some garlic, salt, and chicken bouillon along with the rice and stir it well. You also need to add the scrambled egg that was cooked earlier, to this mixture and mix it well together. Once you add this, turn the heat to low. Add the soy sauce and stir quickly while doing this. Once done, turn off the heat and serve immediately.
Curried Fried Rice
  • Vegetable Broth, 5 tbsp.
  • Soy Sauce, 1 tbsp.
  • Fresh Ginger, 1 tsp. (grated)
  • Salt, ½ tsp.
  • Vegetable Oil, 2 tbsp.
  • Onion, 1 (finely chopped)
  • Carrots, 2 (peeled and finely chopped)
  • Curry Powder, 2 tbsp.
  • Green Peas, 1 cup (steamed)
  • Cooked Brown Rice, 3½ cups
Add vegetable broth, soy sauce, fresh grated ginger, and salt in a bowl. Heat some oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Add onion and carrots to this. Stir-fry it for at least 4 minutes. Add the curry powder and peas, and keep stirring it well. Stir-fry this till it heats for a minute. Now, all you need to do is add the rice and stir it well along with some sauce. Once done, remove from heat and toss it well.
Chicken and Vegetable Fried Rice
