Chicken strips are very easy to make and do not take more than 15 minutes to cook. You can have these as a small snack or also as a main meal. They can be eaten way they are or can be accompanied with a sauce, dip, or mayonnaise.
Deep-fried Chicken Strips
  • Chicken breasts, cut into 1 inch strips, 1 lb.
  • Buttermilk, ¾ cup
  • All-purpose flour, 1½ cup
  • Egg,1
  • Salt
  • Hot sauce, 1 tsp.
  • Sugar, ¼ cup
  • Garlic powder, 1 tbsp.
  • Vegetable oil
  • Paprika, 2 tsp.
Pour some vegetable oil in a deep skillet or a deep fryer and heat it to about 350 to 375°F. In a large mixing bowl add some flour, garlic powder, salt, and paprika and mix it well. Then in another mixing bowl, add the hot sauce, egg, buttermilk, and sugar and mix this well too. Now, put the strips in the dry flour mixture first and cover it well with it and shake off the extra flour. Then dip the same strips into the egg mixture one at a time to coat them well with it. Put some flour mixture on it and then put the strips in the hot oil.
Fry the strips well till they are cooked to give a golden brown color. Remove them from the oil and drain them on a paper towel and serve with some salsa sauce or any other dipping sauce.
Oven-fried Chicken Strips
  • Butter, 2 tbsp.
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, ½ cup
  • Reduced fat baking mix, ½ cup
  • Black pepper, 2 tsp.
  • Seasoning salt, 1½ tsp.
  • Chicken breast strips, 2 lb.
In a baking pan melt the butter and preheat the oven to about 425°F. In a large mixing bowl, add the cheese, baking mix, pepper, and salt and mix well. Then add the chicken breast to the bowl and coat it well. Keep the strips on the baking dish coated with butter and place it in the oven for about 30 minutes. Once the chicken is brown and crispy, serve it hot with a bowl full of hot chili sauce or ketchup.
Southern Fried Chicken
  • Eggs, 3
  • Water, ½ cup
  • Red pepper sauce, 1 cup
  • Flour,2 cups
  • Chicken breasts strips, 2 lb.
  • Oil
  • Salt and pepper
In a large bowl, add the eggs and water and beat them well. Add the hot red pepper sauce to make the egg mixture light orange in color and mix it well. In another small bow, mix the flour with the salt and pepper. Then add the chicken to the egg mixture to coat it well and then coat it with the flour so it gets both the tastes equally. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan to about 350°F and fry the chicken till it is golden brown in color. Once your crispy strips are ready, serve them hot and steamy with any sauce of your choice.
In some cases, you can use beer instead of buttermilk. Also, marinating the chicken prior to the cooking will help soften the meat. You can always alter the amount of spice you add to the dish.
