In fact, preparation of the sauce is nothing more than combining the ingredients together in a bowl or mixer until it is blended and refrigerated for better taste. Fish Taco Sauce with Mayo

  • ½ cup less fat sour cream
  • ½ cup less fat mayonnaise
  • 1 fresh lime, cut in half
  • ½ teaspoon dried dill weed
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • ¼ teaspoon ground chipotle chili powder
  • 1 hot pepper (jalapeño or cherry bomb popper), seeded and minced
  • ½ teaspoon capers, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped

Take a small mixing bowl and whisk the sour cream and mayonnaise together. When the mixture turns smooth, squeeze juice from the freshly cut lime. Mix well and check its consistency. If it is too thick, add more lime juice, or if it is runny, you can add extra sour cream to get the desired thickness. Then, add the dill weed, cumin, oregano, ground coriander, and chili powder to this cream. Stir well for even mixing, and add pepper, capers, and cilantro. Cover the bowl with a lid (or wrap, if available) and keep it in the refrigerator for an hour. If time permits, chill your sauce for a longer period and serve it cold.

Fish Taco Sauce with Yogurt

  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon low fat mayonnaise (or salad dressing)
  • ⅓ cup sour cream
  • Freshly cut lime halves
  • 2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
  • Fresh chopped cilantro, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder (or hot taco sauce)

This recipe requires less than 15 minutes for preparation. All you need to do is gather all the ingredients and mix them in an electric mixer. First of all, add plain yogurt, mayonnaise (or salad dressing), and sour cream in the mixer. Blend for 2 minutes, or until you get a cream-like consistency. Squeeze juice from half a lime and check if the yogurt mixture is still thick. If yes, add some more lime juice. Following this, add avocado, cilantro, and chili powder into the mixer. Mix for 4-5 minutes at a low speed setting, and transfer the sauce into a bowl. Scrape the sides of the mixer with a wooden spatula to remove the adhering sauce. Finally, stir in salt and freshly ground pepper to taste. Refrigerate the sauce for at least half an hour before serving.
