Dried beans are a healthy and easy option for you that facilitate you to try to do thousands of variations. Cooking dried beans is very easy and cheaper than the canned ones.
Dried canned beans can stay last in the cupboard for many days and they also get cooked with minimal of attention. All you have to do is to soak them overnight in water, then just cook them the way you want. Here are some recipes for you, that are easy, as well as sumptuous. Once ready, you can serve them with anything like bread, rice, tacos, pancakes, and almost anything that you desire.

Portuguese Style

  • 3 cups, drained red kidney beans
  • 1½ lb ham hock
  • 2 sliced onions
  • 6 oz. sliced pepperoni
  • 1 diced carrot
  • 1 diced turnip
  • 2 diced potatoes
  • 1 sliced cabbage (small)
  • 1 stalk of coarsely cut celery
  • 8 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 teaspoons, salt
Take a medium skillet and place the ham hock, sliced onion, celery, and bay leaf into it, add 1½ quart of water and simmer for an hour. Strain the ingredients and reserve the ham and the stock. Cut ½-inch pieces of the ham and add the remaining ingredients into the stock. Simmer the mixture thoroughly, until all the vegetables are well-cooked.

Oriental Style

  • 15 oz. drained green baby lima beans
  • 15 oz. drained garbanzo beans
  • 15 oz. drained red kidney beans
  • 8 cups, chicken broth
  • 8 dried black mushrooms
  • 4 slices of lightly crushed ginger
  • 8 oz. soft tofu (cut into ¾ cubes)
  • 1 thinly sliced carrot
  • 2 cups, Chinese cabbage
  • 2 sliced green onions
  • 1 large tomato (cut into 1-inch pieces)
  • ½ teaspoon, sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons, lemon juice
Place mushrooms in warm water and cover them to soak for 30 minutes. Drain them out and cut them into pieces. Take a skillet and add the chicken broth, ginger, and mushrooms into it and bring the mixture to boil over medium heat.
Reduce the heat and cover the mixture, only to simmer for about 15 minutes. Now, add cabbage, tofu, and tomato to cook for 5 minutes. Season this dry bean soup recipe with lemon juice and sesame oil. Don't forget to garnish it with the green onion.

Dried Pinto Beans

  • 16 oz. pinto beans
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • ½ cup, chopped celery
  • ½ cup, chopped carrot
  • 1 cup, diced and cooked ham
  • 14.5 oz. diced tomatoes
  • finely chopped bell pepper
  • ½ teaspoon, cumin
  • ½ teaspoon, chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon, garlic powder (minced garlic will do)
  • ¼ teaspoon, leaf oregano
  • 8 oz. tomato sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon, salt
Combine all the ingredients into a slow cooker. Cover it with the lid and cook for 5-7 hours on low heat. Stir this 'dried beans crock pot' recipe well, before serving. Mexican Dried Refried Beans

  • 16 oz. refried pinto beans
  • 1 slice bacon
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup, grated cheddar cheese
  • A dash of ground cumin
  • A dash of oregano
  • A dash of pepper
  • 2 roasted chili peppers, diced
Add diced bacon, garlic, and spices to a pan and fry until the bacon turns brown in color. Slightly fry the garlic until it turns brown in color. Mash the refried pinto beans and add cheese and chili to it. Add this to the bacon mixture and fry it until hot and bubbly.
