BBQ Pork Sandwiches
  • Pork shoulder roast, 4 lbs.
  • Water, 2 cups
  • Spice seasoning (your choice of brand), 3 tablespoons
  • Cloves, cloves, 6
  • Red onions, julienne, 2
  • Barbecue sauce, quantity depends on you
Stuff cloves in the roast and rub with the spice seasoning blend. Place the roast in crock pot and top it with onions. Pour water till the roast is completely covered, and slow cook for 8―10 hours. Remove the cloves from the pork, layer of fat, excess water, and grease from the pot. After the roast has cool down, shred and pull the meat with a fork or your hands. Place the meat in the crock pot, and add barbecue sauce to it. Heat it for 1―2 hours. Serve it hot with your choice of rolls.
Home-style Pulled Pork
  • Pork shoulder, without fat, 3 lbs.
  • Brown sugar, ¼ cup
  • Ketchup, ½ cup
  • Worcestershire sauce, ½ cup
  • Apple cider vinegar, ½ cup
  • Garlic powder, 1 tablespoon
  • Paprika, ½ teaspoon
  • Liquid smoke, ½ teaspoon
  • Mustard, ground, 1 tablespoon
  • Onion, medium, 1
  • Red chili pepper flakes. for taste
  • Salt and black pepper, for taste
Mix all the ingredients in the crock pot, except for onions and pork, and whisk them till it blends well. Combine the pork and onions in the pot. Slow cook the mixture for 8―10 hours on low heat. After the meat is done, remove it and let it cool down. Shred, and pull the meat apart with the help of a fork. Reheat the meat into the warm sauce, and serve hot on hamburger buns.
Savory Tacos
  • Bone-in pork shoulder picnic, 10 lbs.
  • Orange marmalade, 1 cup
  • Soy sauce, 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic, chopped, 1 tablespoon
  • Corn tortillas, 20
  • Onion, julienne, 1
  • Salt and black pepper, for taste
  • Cabbage slaw (recipe below)
For Cabbage Slaw
  • Cider vinegar, ¼ cup
  • Carrots, grated, 4
  • Red cabbage, shredded, 1
  • Salt and black pepper, for taste
Mix cabbage, carrots, vinegar, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Wrap it in a damp towel and keep it in refrigerator for 1―2 hours. This will be the topping for the tacos.
For Pork Tacos
Take a crock pot and put onions in the bottom, then the pork shoulder with fat and skin side up, and add soy sauce, orange marmalade, garlic, salt and pepper. Let it cook over a low heat for 8-10 hours. Once the meat is cooked, remove from the pot and let it cool down. Shred and pull the meat apart with the help of a fork or your hands, and arrange the meat over a platter. Leave some meat on the bone. This will keep it warm and juicy, and pull it at the table. Warm the tortillas in a microwave oven. Arrange the pork and tortillas on the table with some cabbage slaw topping.
