Canned Tuna Recipes

If you are following a high-protein diet, then you can have canned tuna for your meals. This article tells you how to make dishes that are absolutely mouth-watering.

Tuna is a healthy form of seafood high in proteins, minerals, and vitamins. Eating tuna not only benefits losing weight, but also reduces high blood pressure and bad cholesterol in the body. Moreover, according to some researches, tuna contains high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. Canned tuna is an easy way to include this healthy fish in your diet.

Tuna Casserole

  • Tuna, 2 cans
  • Chopped onion, ¼ cup
  • Condensed cream soup, 2 cans
  • Green peas, 1½ cups
  • Sliced mushrooms, 1 small can
  • Cooked egg noodles, 4 cups
  • Shredded cheddar cheese, 1½ cups
  • Crushed saltines, 1 cup

Take a casserole dish and grease it with cooking spray. Pour the cooked egg noodles at the bottom of the casserole dish. In a large sized mixing bowl combine condensed soup, onion, mushrooms, cheese (half), peas, and tuna. Mix the ingredients properly and pour this tuna mixture over the egg noodles. Then spread the remaining cheese over the mixture and top it with crushed saltines. Bake the mixture at 400°F for about 20 minutes. Garnishing with tomato salad and lettuce, and serve.

Tuna Sandwich

  • Eggs, 6
  • Bread and butter pickles, 1½ cups
  • Celery, chopped, 3 stalks
  • Tuna, drained, 2 cans (6 oz.)
  • Salt, ½ tsp.
  • Ground black pepper, ½ tsp.
  • Sweet pickle juice, 1 tbsp.

Take a saucepan, put cold water in it, and place eggs in the water. Then boil the water and remove it from heat immediately. Cover the saucepan with a lid and leave the eggs in hot water for about 10 to 12 minutes. Remove the eggs from the water and cool them under running water. Then peel off the hard cover of the eggs and place the peeled eggs and pickle in a food processor. Blend the mixture to attain a roughly chopped texture. Then transfer the mixture to a medium-sized bowl and combine tuna and chopped celery to it. Season the mixture with pepper and salt and then combine the pickle juice to the mixture. Mix all the ingredients properly and spread the mixture on one side of bread and your tasty tuna sandwich is ready to eat.

Tuna Salad

  • Mayonnaise, 2 tbsp.
  • Dried cranberries, 3 tbsp.
  • Dried dill weed, ⅓ tsp.
  • Salt
  • Solid white tuna packed in water, drained, 2 cans (6 oz.)

Transfer the canned tuna to a bowl and mash it thoroughly with a fork. Then, combine mayonnaise and evenly coat the tuna. Add in cranberries and dill to the tuna mixture and add salt according to taste. Your delicious tuna salad is ready, serve with bread or crackers.

Before purchasing a can of tuna, make sure you check the manufacturing date. Since it is already processed meat, there are chances that the fish is spoiled or has become stale. Also make sure that you buy it from a recognized manufacturer.
