Shrimp is a very popular seafood. People often don't have the exact idea of what shrimp scampi is all about. Scampi is actually referred to a large shrimp that is sautéed in the batter of garlic and oil or butter. Scampi of lobsters are also equally popular, especially the Norwegian lobsters. The recipes are prepared by using various ingredients for a starter as well as the main course. These recipes are actually easy to make and they also take less preparation time.
Shrimp with White Wine and Cheese
  • Raw shrimp peeled, 1 lb.
  • White Wine, ¾ cup
  • Margarine, 2 tbsp.
  • Olive Oil, ½ cup
  • Garlic, (Minced) 3 tbsp.
  • Paprika, ¼ tsp.
  • Parsley Flakes, ½ tbsp.
  • Unsalted Butter, ½ cup
  • Parmesan Cheese (grated) (for topping)
Heat white wine, butter, olive oil, margarine, and minced garlic together. After it starts boiling, add parsley flakes and paprika to it and stir in the shrimp immediately. You will have to cook this mixture until the shrimp start to turn pink (approximately 4 - 5 minutes). Make sure you don't overcook this dish, as that will reduce its taste as well as flavor. Take out and place the dish on a serving plate and serve after garnishing it with Parmesan Cheese.
Shrimp with Garlic Butter Sauce
  • Raw Shrimp, (peeled) 1 lb.
  • Dry White Wine, ½ cup
  • Olive Oil, 2 tbsp.
  • Garlic Cloves, (minced) 4
  • Salt and Ground Black Pepper, as per taste
  • Red Pepper Flakes, ¼ tsp.
  • Unsalted Butter, 2 tbsp.
  • Parsley, (chopped) ½ cup
  • Fettuccine, 1 lb.
Boil water in a large bowl. Heat the pasta in it until, it's just next to tender. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium to high heat. Sauté the shrimp for about 2 minutes. Take it out in a bowl by using a slotted spoon. Add garlic, both the peppers, white wine, and salt to the pan and stir well. Cook for around 1 minute. Add butter to the pan. Add the shrimp and coat it with the garlic mixture and butter. Take a bowl, toss pasta and the mixture into it, with a cup of water (if pasta seems too dry). Sprinkle the parsley and serve it hot.
Jumbo Shrimp with Yellow Rice
  • Jumbo Shrimp, 2 lb.
  • Mushroom, ½ lb.
  • Garlic Cloves, (thin slices) 4
  • Olive Oil, 2 tbsp.
  • Ground Pepper and Salt, as per taste
  • Cilantro Leaves, 1 cup
  • Water, ¼ cup
  • Unsalted Butter, 2 tbsp.
  • Yellow Rice
Take a pair of kitchen scissors. Cut the back of the shrimp and leave on the shell. This way it will look like a butterfly. Season with salt and pepper. Take a large pan and add olive oil to it. Add garlic and fry until brown. Put garlic in a dish and add mushrooms in the same skillet. Stir and cook for about 8 minutes. Add the seasoned dish to the skillet and cook for about 8 minutes more. Add water to the shrimp. Heat until the water evaporates. Add cilantro leaves to this mixture. Serve this dish with yellow rice. Garnish it with lime wedges and serve hot.
As repeatedly stated, these recipes can be made more flavorsome by using different garnishing ideas and techniques. You can even bake this dish to get a different flavor. While making this dish, ensure that you never overcook it. Adding, reducing or cooking with innovative ingredients, is solely up to you.
