Preparing raw almond butter, is nothing but using plain un-toasted almonds for the butter.

  • 3 cups raw almonds, washed/soaked overnight
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil

In a food processor or a grinder, add the soaked almonds along with the skin. Blend it on high till you get a thick paste of almonds which is not chunky. While doing this, keep checking the consistency of the paste, so that you don't end up getting a very soft paste too. Then add cinnamon and sea salt to the grinder. If you want to add maple syrup/honey, you can, but this will make the butter very sweet. Remove the paste from the grinder into a bowl, and then add 4 drops of oil to make it buttery. Serve it immediately or you can fill it in a jar and refrigerate it.

Toasted Almond Butter
Like the above mentioned procedure for making almond butter with raw or soaked almonds, you can use roasted or toasted almonds as well. This procedure or recipe can be followed for a number of nut butter recipes like hazelnut, pecans, cashew nuts, etc.

  • 2 cups raw almonds
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon oil

For this homemade recipe, you will need to toast the raw almonds. You can either do this in a preheated oven at 350 ºF or on a pan. If you are roasting them in the oven, you will need to toss them after every 5 minutes till they turn light brown. But the easier option to do this is using a pan with ½ teaspoon oil or butter. Toss them on the pan and heat them till they are crispy and brown. Then add them to the grinder and prepare the paste, after which you will add the sea salt and the oil to grind them a little more. Once you get the perfect consistency, remove it in a bowl and enjoy it with whole wheat bread.
